Outreach
Central to St. Paul’s mission, outreach encompasses giving of time, talents, material goods and financial support to individuals and organizations in need. It springs forth through a variety of channels. Some projects belong fully to the folks at St. Paul’s and others involve parishioners in community endeavors.
Long term, ongoing projects: Bloomsburg Food Cupboard; Bloomsburg Children’s Museum; Bloomsburg School District/Food Cupboard’s Panther Packs Program; noisy collection donations to support AGAPE, Women’s Shelter, and Area Agency on Aging; Columbia County Christian Fair Ministry; support and companionship for veterans at Orangeville Manor.
Columbia County Christian Fair Ministry (CCCFM) is a large, consortium-based organization whose focus is to meet the needs of itinerant fair workers at the annual Bloomsburg Fair. We collect, sort and distribute clothing, shoes and pillows to fair workers each September.
Bloomsburg Food Cupboard is our local food pantry. We are currently focused on canned vegetables and soups and donating empty cardboard egg cartons, as well as child friendly food.
Food Cupboard’s Panther Packs Program provides weekend food for children in weekly “backpacks.” We do an annual drive to fill 60+ bags of food for the program, and supplement at other times.
Dessert schedule for our veteran friends at Orangeville Manor. We provide desserts on a routine basis, including store-bought items, popcorn, salty snacks in individual bags, and Tasty-cake© products (especially peanut butter Tandy-cakes) as well as home-baked desserts. The veterans also come to Saint Paul’s for a holiday luncheon at Christmas for companionship and gift giving.
Operation Christmas Child. Samaritan’s Purse sends gift-filled Operation Christmas Child shoeboxes to children in need around the world together with the message of the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
Boxes & directions for filling them are available in October and November.
